CASPER, Wyo. – Kellon Harris poured in 30 points and the Western Nebraska Community College men's basketball team connected on 17 3-pointers in registering a road win to open the second semester at Casper College, winning 105-85.

The win was the Cougars' first win at Casper College since the team defeated the T-Birds on their home court in the 2012-13 season on January 26 88-81. WNCC has only scored 100 points on the Cougars seven times since 1997-98 in 60 meetings between the two schools.

The win was the Cougars' fourth win of the season as they will travel to Gillette College on Thursday. The Cougars will then open South Conference play on Saturday when they host Northeastern Junior College with the women's game tipping off at 1 p.m. and the men's contest at 3 p.m.

Wednesday's win saw the Cougars only trail once in the contest and that was the first basket of the contest. After that, WNCC's Isaiah St. Preux and Toms Linis hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Cougars up 6-2 and they would never relinquish the lead again.

The game, however, was close at that as Casper trailed by two points twice, the last time at 11-9. Kellon Harris then buried his second 3-pointer of the game and St. Preux hit a field goal to put WNCC up 16-9.

WNCC had a 14-point lead at 31-17 before Casper sliced the lead down to seven points at 44-37 late in the first half. WNCC responded with a 9-3 run that included a triple by Noah Jones and six points from Harris to give the Cougars a 53-40 lead going into halftime.

WNCC led 57-42 early in the second half before Casper went on an 8-0 run to make it a 57-50 contest. WNCC came back as Harris had a dunk and then followed with a 3-pointer for a 62-50 lead. The T-Birds followed with two straight triples to make it a 6-point, 62-56 game.

WNCC then went on a 16-2 run to lead 78-58 with 10:10 to play on back-to-back buckets by Xavier Kirkpatrick and never looked back.

WNCC shot 53 percent from the field, including going 17-of-35 from beyond the arc. Casper shot 31-of-63 from the field and buried 14 3-pointers.

WNCC had six players finishing in double figures. Harris netted 30 points and pulled down a game-leading eight rebounds. Linis and Melchi Egbeyemi each had 14 points followed by Jones with 13, Kirkpatrick with 11, and Withold Czerenkiewicz with 10 points.
