CASPER, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College men's soccer team started slow and could never take the lead as Casper College earned a 5-2 conference win Saturday in Casper, Wyoming.
WNCC finished the weekend conference trip 1-1 and will look to get back on the winning track when they have two road games this weekend at Lamar Community College on Friday and Northeastern Junior College on Saturday.
The Casper men, just like their women's team, wasted no time in scoring. Justin Godbour-Garon recorded a hat trick with three goals in the first 15 minutes. His first goal came in the 3-minute mark, his second with just 10 minutes gone off the clock, and his third at the 15th minute mark.
WNCC, after spotting the T-birds three goals, decided to wake up as they made it a 3-2 game at halftime. WNCC scored its first goal at the 21st minute when Oscar Molina scored an unassisted goal. Then, with a minute to play, Anthony Lemus took a pass from Alvaro Abeal to score the second goal.
WNCC played tough in the second half, but couldn't get the tying goal. Casper added two insurance goals as Francesco Panetta scored in the 60th minute and Nate Dummer scored in the 83rd minute.
Casper finished with 21 shots compared to just six for WNCC.
Owen Henderson made eight saves in net for the Cougars.
