LIBERAL, Kan. – Tishara Morehouse finished with 36 points in leading the Western Nebraska Community College women's basketball team to a 96-59 win over Garden City Community College Saturday afternoon in Liberal, Kansas.
WNCC used a strong second half to register the win. WNCC held a 19-17 lead after one period and led 38-30 at halftime. The second half saw the Cougars outscore the Broncbusters 58-29 for the win.
The difference in the halves was shooting. The Cougars shot 39 percent and made just 1 of 11 3-pointers. The second half saw the team ignite for 59 percent shooting and made 5 of 14 treys.
After leading 38-30 at halftime, WNCC quickly went up 50-34 in the third period before holding a 60-47 lead after three periods.
The fourth quarter was all WNCC as they went on a 10- 3 run to open the fourth and then had a 15-3 run toward the end for the win.
Morehouse was on fire Saturday, finishing with 36 points to lead all scorers. The freshman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was 14 of 20 from the field, including burying three treys., She also had five rebounds and four steals.
WNCC, 1-1, will return to action next weekend when they travel to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to battle Iowa Western Community College on Friday and Cloud County Community College on Saturday. WNCC's first home game will be Nov. 14 when they host Northwest College.
