Ryan Davis enters his second season as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Western Nebraska Community College. In his first year, the Cougars finished 25-6 overall and 10-0 in conference, winning Region IX South and hosting the Region IX Tournament as the overall #1 seed. WNCC was a mainstay in the NJCAA Top 25 most of the year and finished the season #19 nationally. As a result of the strong season Davis was named the 2024-25 Region IX Coach of the Year. Last season, Sophomore Adelina Urtane was selected Region IX South Player of the Year, and in all, four Cougars were selected to the All-Region IX team. The 2024-25 squad won the award for highest team GPA at Western Nebraska and Helena Kuck was named Student-Athlete of the Year. Additionally, she and her teammate Katie Viera were recognized nationally as NJCAA Academic All-Americans

Before WNCC Davis spent two years in his native home of Kansas City as a high school boys’ basketball coach at St. James Academy in Lenexa, KS. During the 2021-22 season he was hired by NCAA Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City women’s basketball team as Assistant Coach/Director of Basketball Operations. Davis is no stranger to Region IX as he served as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Sheridan College for three seasons before the school cut athletics. He has made stops as an assistant coach on the men’s and women’s side at multiple NCAA Division II and junior college programs throughout his 14-year coaching career and holds a 102-64 overall head coaching record. Davis earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in 2010 and was on the men’s basketball staff as a student assistant from 2007-10 (2008 DI NCAA Champions and 4X Big 12 Champions).

This past summer he graduated from Angelo State University with his master’s degree. Ryan is married to his wife of five years, Lorrie Davis.
