  • WNCC men’s soccer end season in regional playoffs

    POWELL, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team saw their season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Northwest College Saturday in the first round of the Region IX playoffs in Powell, Wyoming. The other first-round men’s contest saw Central Wyoming College top Laramie County Community College 1-0. Central and Northwest advance to the semifinals to face the top two seeds Otero College and Casper College next weekend. For the Cougars, they end their season at 3-7-5 as WNCC head coach Eseah Ingram said they will look to rebound next year.
  • WNCC men’s soccer begins regional playoffs Saturday

    The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team begins defense of their Region IX championship from last year when they open the Region IX tournament on Saturday in the first round of the playoffs. WNCC, who earned the sixth seed, will travel to face third-seeded Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, at 10 a.m. The Cougars enter with a 3-6-5 record while going 3-4-2 in conference action. Northwest is 9-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in conference. First-year men’s coach Eseah Ingram said this is the second season and records mean very little as he likes his team’s chances entering the tourney. “We gotta take risks and execute,” Ingram said. “If we play with some heart and a bit of arrogance, we can get a result. I believe in my boys.”
  • WNCC men fall to Northwest in weather-shortened contest

    The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team wrapped up the regular season Saturday in suffering a 3-0 weather-shortened contest to Northwest College at Landers Soccer Complex. The Cougars finish the regular season at 3-6-5 overall and 3-4-2 in conference play. WNCC will now wait until after next weekend to see if they make the playoffs. Currently, the Cougars are sitting in sixth place and the top six teams make the post-season. There is a chance the Cougars could move up to fifth if the right teams win next weekend. The Region IX playoffs begin October 18 with the third through sixth seeds facing each other with the top two seeds getting a bye. WNCC head coach Eseah Ingram said it wasn’t the team’s best performance on the pitch Saturday.
  • WNCC men fall to No. 9 Barton 4-0

    Tuesday afternoon saw the Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team play a spirited contest against No. 9 Barton Community College at Landers Soccer Complex. After holding the ninth-ranked team to just one goal in the first half, the Barton Cougars scored three times in the second half to earn the 4-0 victory.
  • WNCC men earn a tie with LCCC on Saturday

    The old saying of “a tie is like kissing your sister” came true and that is exactly what happened Saturday at Landers Soccer Complex when the Western Nebraska Community College and Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team hooked up for a Region IX contest. WNCC was in firm control of the game until a late goal off a penalty kick gave the Golden Eagles a goal to tie the game and that is where it stood after 90 minutes of play at 2-2. With the tie, WNCC falls to fourth in the conference standings with 11 points while Laramie County is third with 13 points. The conference is led by Otero with 18 points and Casper with 15 points. WNCC is 3-2-2 in conference and 3-3-5 overall. Teams get three points for a conference win and one point for a tie. WNCC will wrap up the regular season this week with three home matches. WNCC will host No. 9 Barton Community College on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. and then host Central Wyoming College Friday at 1:30 p.m. and the Northwest College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
  • WNCC men’s soccer earns win over Trinidad on Saturday

    The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team played solid defense to get the shutout 2-0 win over Trinidad State College in a South conference contest Saturday at Landers Soccer Complex. WNCC head coach Eseah Ingram said his team got the win, but it wasn’t their best game overall. “We just tried to play principal futbol,” Ingram said. “When they play five in the back five, the biggest thing is being patient on the ball, switching the side of play, and just try to break them down. I don’t think we did a good job executing today. We could have given a much better performance, but at the end of the day we will take the wins when we get them.”
  • WNCC men’s soccer team drops a 2-1 contest to Otero

    The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team started their home campaign with a defensive contest and had a strong first half when Otero College came to Landers Soccer Complex Friday. WNCC held a 1-0 halftime lead but their strong first-half defense couldn’t hold on as the Rattlers scored twice in the second half to claim a 2-1 conference win. WNCC will look to get back on track Saturday when they host Trinidad State College in another conference game beginning at 4 p.m. at Landers. Admission to all Cougar soccer matches are free. Friday’s contest was one where goals were hard to come by as well as shots as both defenses were playing well.
  • WNCC men’s soccer team win, tie over the weekend

    It was a mixed bag of results for the Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team over the weekend. The Cougars put up six goals on Friday as they blanked Lamar Community College 6-0. On Saturday, the Cougars allowed a late Northeastern Junior College goal to earn a 1-1 tie. WNCC, 2-1-1 in conference, has seven conference points and is in second place in the conference as Otero College and Laramie County Community College are tied for first with nine points.

    CASPER, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team started slow and could never take the lead as Casper College earned a 5-2 conference win Saturday in Casper, Wyoming. WNCC finished the weekend conference trip 1-1 and will look to get back on the winning track when they have two road games this weekend at Lamar Community College on Friday and Northeastern Junior College on Saturday.

    GILLETTE, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team opened up the conference portion of their schedule with a 2-1 road win over Gillette College in Gillette, Wyoming. The win was the Cougars first win of the year and it came during the important part of the season – the conference matches. The game was a battle in the first half with neither team scoring.
  • WNCC men earn two ties over the weekend in Iowa
    August 30, 2025
    SPENCER, Iowa – The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team didn’t lose or win over the weekend in Spencer, Iowa. Instead, the Cougars had to settle for two ties against opponents Friday and Saturday in Spencer, Iowa. On Friday, the Cougars faced NJCAA Division II pre-season No. 3 Iowa Lakes and gave Lakers all they could handle. In the end, the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 tie. Saturday’s contest with St. Louis Community College was similar to the Iowa Lakes contest as each squad scored a goal in each half as the squads settled for a 2-2 tie.
  • WNCC, Salt Lake tie in season-opening match

    TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – The 18th-ranked Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team and the 9th-ranked Salt Lake Community College had a battle Thursday in both teams season-opener as the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 tie. WNCC men’s head coach Eseah Ingram said after a slow start, the Cougars played much better in the second half. “We played decent, took us a little longer than I wanted to get into the game,” Ingram said. “But, once we found our confidence, it got much better. We played a much better game in the second half.”
  • WNCC men’s soccer opens season Thursday against No. 9 Salt Lake

    Western Nebraska Community College first-year head coach Eseah Ingram is excited about the coming soccer season as the Cougars prepare to defend their Region IX championship when they open the season August 21 and 23 in Utah. Ingram said he believes this team is ready to go. WNCC had two scrimmages, a Navy/Gold home scrimmage and then traveled to face Garden City Community College earlier in August. “Yes, the team is ready for the challenge, and we’re excited to get the season started! Hopeful to get it started well!” Ingram said. Just like last year, WNCC will have a tough opening schedule.
  • WNCC men’s soccer ranked 18th in preseason poll

    The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team received some good news on Monday after the NJCAA released its pre-season poll on Monday. The Cougar men, who competed at the national tournament last fall, earned the 18th seed for the upcoming season. Eseah Ingram, WNCC head coach, said while the ranking is nice, it is more for the players, program, and the community.
  • WNCC men’s soccer looked solid in first inter-squad scrimmage

    Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer coach Eseah Ingram loved what he saw for the first competition of the season during the Navy/Gold scrimmage on Saturday. The scrimmage itself saw two evenly-matched teams as the Gold took a 3-0 lead before the Navy scored the final three games of the match to tie things at 3-3. “Scrimmage was solid, saw a lot of good things but also saw some things I believe we need to improve on,” Ingram said. “We’re connecting early right now and today, in moments, it showed. We must continue to keep working and strive to get better every single day.”
  • WNCC men’s soccer team opens practice with the goal of another regional title

    The Western Nebraska Community College men’s soccer team won the Region IX title a year ago and this year first-year head coach Eseah Ingram is hoping for nothing less as the Cougar men opened pre-season practice this weekend. “Goals for the year are simple, win the Region IX & District and compete for a National Championship. Anything less is a failure,” Ingram said. “As much pressure as that may bring, it’s the reality of our program and our standard. We, as a program, are working hard to establish culture. Last year was great but it’s in the past. This year we strive to do it all again, but even better.” The Cougars welcomed 26 players in this weekend as they started two-a-days on Saturday. The team will have a Navy and Gold scrimmage on Saturday and a scrimmage at Garden City Community College on August 13.
